In Leviticus chapter 5, itwas stated seven times that if we committed a sin “unintentionally”, we are still responsible, and upon realizing our wrong, we must repent for it.
Also in Number 15:
22- 30, this same idea was repeated seven times. However in verse 30-31, the Lord stated,
“30 “‘But anyone who sins defiantly, whether native-born or
foreigner, blasphemes the Lord and must be cut off from the people of Israel.
31 Because they have despised the Lord’s word and broken his commands, they
must surely be cut off; their guilt remains on them.’””
- It only means that, once we know
that it is a sin, and yet we still did it intentionally, then we are despising
God. This will bring God’s anger upon us and will drive us away from God’s
presence. This is the reason why our prayers don’t reach God, because our sins
drive us away from God’s presence. It’s not that God can’t hear our words, but
God in His justice cannot tolerate us doing wrong. We must first give up our
sins- big and small, and sins done in secret, in order for God to take heed on
us. God is pleased to see people getting saved, and angered at people who
reject this opportunity to be saved.
- It is indeed our personal
decision. If we really wanted, as in sincerely wanted to stop sinning, pray to
God and He will help us by giving us wisdom how to do so. That’s God’s promise-
to help us overcome. However, or decision is very important.
- Now, how can we evaluate our life
if we are sinning against God or not? Reading the Bible will help us evaluate
our actions, because God’s instructions are written in it. It may be that we
will find it difficult to understand. Then that’s another wonder of prayer, if
we “really wanted” again to stop sinning, the Lord will make us understand.
- Well, it’s a matter of deciding
to stop sinning, and trusting God to help you.
